Earmarks

Frustrated artist Whutnot says: It’s really infuriating how Palin and McCain keep claiming to be reformers.  It is simply not true.  Under Palin, Alaska recieved the most earmarks per capita of ANY state.  and McCain agrees with the Bush administration’s policies.  only a week until the election.  Please make the best vote for this country.

RIP Madelyn Dunham. Hope you at least went on with the assurance that your grandson would tomorrow be elected president. Thanks for bringing up such a great man!

CNN FTW

bree: Just read that headline and look at that great photo. This is why I love CNN. Will the GOP use all necessary means to win an election? Here I was, worrying they’d be intimidating people with scare tactics, and apparently CNN agrees.

Don’t forget to get out there and help push for positive change in the last final days of campaigning!

Gone Rogue

Written by bree on October 27, 2008 in: Comics | Tags: , , ,

bree: Lots of talk about Sarah Palin going “rogue” in the final days before the election.
McCain aides, frightened and frustrated that she has been “off message” and, drum roll, has a “lack of fundamental understanding of some key issues”.

In a way, I almost feel bad for the camp, having their bad decision to bring her aboard thrown in their face— oh wait, no I don’t.

And they said 'Here's a qualified female Vice Presidential candidate,' and we said...

A nice drawing from Whutnot on more feelings about Sarah Palin. Mrs. Palin, for all her scandals, false or stretched accusations, and inaccuracies, just does not bode well for us. I love the creepiness of the picture.

Thanks by Whutnot.

Can we hit up Candy Mountain too?

From Nerd Theater comes an oddly random comic about Obama!  It’s a note on the frenzy of hero-worshipping that’s been done on Obama.  I’m not sure it’s really around or affecting the election as much now, since we all (should) know more about each candidate that paints them in a more realistic light in our minds.  But it’s true that for a while there, it was as if he has the keys to Candyland and everyone wanted a piece of that ice-cream cone castle!  Certainly though, the general media has been pushing for their adoration of the man, even though McCain’s called them out on it (Source: Washington Post). Nerd Theater mentions that they’re mostly Obama supporters, but either way it’s nice to have some realistic views on candidates, especially this close to the end.

A Hard Night’s Debate

The face of McCain

A pretty cool idea from Atara for a running observation, purely artistic, of the debate. I actually myself enjoyed the facial expressions of the pair as they sparred verbally. It’s interesting to see the couple of times when they lapse out of their normal, smiling, calm and assuring I-can-win faces. I would’ve tried this exercise myself, but unfortunately, we’ve reached the end of our two candidates going face to face live. For more lighthearted fun with the candidates, be sure to check out their comedy night where both Obama and McCain did a great job of making fun of each other and themselves.

Anyway we’ll hopefully see more from Atara soon! :D

You Can Fire Anyone You Want!

You CAN fire anyone you want, Palin! And no one will mind it much!

A neat little short from Whutnot on a serious issue that no one seems to care about. Whutnot writes:

“I am amazed that the fact that Sarah Palin abused her power as governer has not been a bigger deal. Nobody has really said much about it. I think that this really shows that she is not qualified to lead this country. She cannot be objective with her employees.”

I agree with you there! I was surprised that the final verdict of Troopergate (Source: Times Online UK), a state investigation into the unethical firing of an Alaskan state trooper by Sarah Palin, seems to have nary had an affect at all on Palin or her camp. Later, she said that it actually was a good result for her campaign as Vice President (Source: Washington Independent). The question is, how much more gross alterations of the truth can the American people take? McCain seems to be generally taking the high road in terms of trying to remain honest in a difficult time to do so, but Palin is probably the only candidate who boldly distorts the truth and says it in a way that people believe her. Time will tell how this will hurt or help her.

Whutnot also sent me this musical Palin remix which I will warn you right now is not very objective. But it IS pretty funny and very catchy…

Maybe not Joe, but…

Written by bree on October 16, 2008 in: Comics | Tags: , , , ,

Mentioned during the debate enough times to truly unbalance your debate game, Joe the Plumber has become a sort of metaphor for the ailing small business. McCain swore up and down that poor ol’ Joe would do nothing but suffer under Obama’s economic model, and both candidates often looked into the camera to address the man directly.

While Joe may be leaning towards voting for McCain (perhaps he hit his head on a drain pipe or two), I think that many plumber dudes, working hard to put food on the table, see Obama as the better candidate. Or, at least, I hope.

Love,
bree
